Big Island Tea is one of Hawai`i’s pioneer tea farms.  The fertile volcanic soil and misty high altitude environment are producing a healthy, unique-to-Hawai`i, tea.  We are selecting the highest quality and well adapted hybrids from parent stock originating from Darjeeling, India; China; Japan; and Taiwan.

Implementing sustainable organic farming practices (no synthetic fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides) we are recreating an endemic Hawaiian forest canopy and understory to shade our tea plants.     This technique is called “Agro-ecology” and strives to emulate a    self-sustaining forest ecosystem.
